What We Do
Early Education Intervention
A national study released in 2021 shows that students who do not read proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to leave high school without a diploma than proficient readers. If a child is not a proficient reader when they begin fourth grade, as much as half of the curriculum they will be taught will be incomprehensible.
With this in mind, our tutoring and mentorship programs are free for qualified low-income elementary aged children and focus on building competencies in reading, writing and math. Our programs support academic success during the school year, prevent summer learning loss, and provide basic need support services such as healthy food and safe supervision.
Above all else, our students receive personal mentorship from adults who care about their success and are empowered to have a motivated and positive mindset.
Notary Services
The Muindi Foundation offers free notary services by appointment only for veterans, low-income individuals, and individuals living in a shelter or homeless camp. Often, to receive and qualify for support services from the County of Santa Clara a valid California identification card is required to qualify for food stamps, housing, and other support services. Make an appointment today!
Our organization also provides free notary services to local homeless shelters and other non-profit partners through our partner share program. Make an appointment today!
Hygiene Care Kits
Often many of us take basic toiletry items for granted. Our organization provides hygiene items to those suffering from homelessness. A few of the most requested items we receive are, socks, underwear, body wipes, chapstick, sanitary napkins and bottled water.
Over the last year, we were able to distribute over 10,000 hygiene, toiletry, and clothing items. While good personal hygiene is well known to reduce the risk of infectious disease and improve mental health, as well as improve self-confidence among people experiencing homelessness, not enough attention and resources are allocated.

Brown Bag Lunches
We prepare, pack, and distribute healthy lunches to those suffering from homelessness. Our goal is to feed 2,000 homeless individuals in 2021. As part of our Brown Bag Lunch program, we distribute healthy lunches to homeless and needy families in our local community. A lunch consists of a bottle of water, a sandwich a fruit (banana, orange, or fruit cup), two carbs (chips, granola bar). We pack the items in a brown paper bag and they’re ready for distribution to our downtown homeless community.
Outreach
Outreach is a very important part of what we do. On a regular basis our team walks to local homeless camps and provide hot coffee, donuts, and a hygiene care Kits.
Our goal is to build long lasting positive relationships with our clients where they live and learn their stories and life journey, so that we can better serve them.
Building Leaders and Mentors
Our team at Muindi Foundation will train qualified high school student volunteers. In turn, these students act as mentors for their younger counterparts.
The selected high school students will volunteer in the Learning Club where they interact with elementary school students and carry out our vision to empower and improve. Not only do the mentors have fun tutoring, but they also learn about mentoring and leadership.
